21/12/2008 : LA PANTHÈRE Le Jaguar et le Léopard partagent quant à eux une histoire commune. Concentrés dans les régions actuelles de l'Europe et l'Asie, ils remonteraient à près de 2 millions d'années. Le léopard s'est retrouvé davantage dans l'Ouest de l'Europe où s'est développé par la suite (env. 1 million d'années) la panthère d'Asie. À cette période, le léopard a voyagé vers le sud du continent (en Afrique), alors que la panthère s'est développée dans les pays de l'Asie (Chine, Inde, Corée). Pour ce qui est du jaguar, on le retrouvait plutôt dans les régions de l'Est du continent (Russie, Hongrie, Pologne). On croit qu'il aurait voyagé par pont de terre Bering ce serait pour cette raison qu'il se serait retrouvé en Amérique. Les premiers jaguars étaient plus grands et plus gros, ainsi que des pattes plus longues que le jaguar moderne. LE TIGRE Le tigre pour sa part, aurait des ancêtres depuis un demi-million d'années. On le retrouvait tout d'abord en Asie Centrale (Chine, Corée) et s'est ensuite répandu dans l'Ouest (Inde, Russie notamment). On pense que le tigre vivant actuellement en Chine du Nord (le tigre de Mandchourie) serait la sous-espèce connue la plus proche des premières espèces de tigres.
